EVLO’s landmark project in Parent, Quebec, has been honored with the prestigious Top Project of the Year Award by Environment+Energy Leader (E+E Leader). This recognition underscores EVLO’s leadership in the industry and the exceptional quality of its energy storage solutions.
The groundbreaking project in Parent showcases EVLO’s commitment to community resilience. By deploying a 4-MW / 20-MWh battery energy storage system (BESS), EVLO ensured an uninterrupted power supply for the remote village during critical transmission work, reducing reliance on fossil fuel generators and cutting greenhouse gas emissions significantly. The project is designed to support grid resilience as an auxiliary source of electricity during outages and to offset peak grid demand. EVLO will automate the transition from grid forming to island mode, making the Parent BESS North America’s first fully automated, utility-scale battery used for transmission-level backup power. For more information on the project see our case study.
This is the second time EVLO has been recognized for the Parent project, which also won an award for “Landmark BESS Application” from Energy Storage Canada.
For well over a decade, the E+E Leader Awards program has celebrated the exceptional advancements made in the realms of environmental, sustainability, and energy management. The awards recognize those who contribute and set new standards in the industry, setting a high standard for others to follow. Winners of the awards are seen as leaders in environmental initiatives and energy management, with their achievements serving as benchmarks for excellence across the globe.
