EVLO Announces MSA with Hithium and First Commissioned Project with its High-Density 5 MWh DC block in North America
In collaboration with Hithium, EVLO demonstrates operational readiness of its high-density battery energy storage system at its testing facility.
October 24, 2024 — Montréal — EVLO Energy Storage Inc. (EVLO), a fully integrated battery energy storage system (BESS) provider and wholly owned subsidiary of Hydro-Québec, announces the signing of a Master Supply Agreement (MSA) with stationary battery manufacturer Hithium. As part of the agreement, Hithium will provide EVLO with 5 megawatt-hour (MWh) DC blocks made of 314 amp-hour lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery cells, together with up to 25-year warranty and performance guarantee packages. The 5 MWh DC blocks will be integrated into EVLO SYNERGY, EVLO’s next-generation battery energy storage system (BESS).
In collaboration with Hithium, EVLO also completed the commissioning of the 5 MWh, 20-foot DC block on its 25kV testing facility. This achievement met the project’s specific requirements and marked a significant milestone as the first grid-connected BESS project in North America that uses Hithium’s 5 MWh DC block in a 20-foot container.

EVLO’s testing facility provides a unique opportunity to assess a storage system’s compatibility with the grid and validate its control systems with a thorough Field Integration Test (FIT) protocol, to ultimately ensure smoother integration to a customer’s project.
