In the wake of the July 2013 rail disaster, the city of Lac-Mégantic chose to rebuild its central district by positioning itself as a leader in the energy transition.

  • The microgrid is equipped with approximately 1,700 solar panels, powering two EVLO 300 energy storage units.
  • In the case of an outage, the batteries can supply downtown Lac-Mégantic with clean electricity for several hours.
  • The smart microgrid can also store the surplus energy it generates and feed it back into the main grid.
  • EVLO developed new EMS features to enable this microgrid.
